What are the Production Processes for Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) Oils?

Aug. 12, 2024

Perfluoropolyether oil (PFPE), as a kind of polymer, is a colorless, odorless and transparent liquid at room temperature, and its preparation is accomplished by the polymerization of perfluorinated monomers. According to the different monomers used and polymerization methods, four types of PFPE with different molecular structures can be obtained: K-type, Y-type, Z-type, and D-type.

According to the type of products, PFPE oil can be divided into two types: branched chain and straight chain, which are further subdivided into K-type and Y-type for branched chain. Most of the PFPE oils produced nowadays are of these two types.

The straight chain type can be divided into Z (M) type and D type. These two kinds of fluorine oils have high molecular weight and have better high temperature resistance and evaporation resistance. Under the high temperature environment of 149℃, the oil with slightly higher viscosity among them has almost no evaporation loss after 22 hours. However, these two types of production process is complicated, the production process is more dangerous, in the event of decomposition, it will produce extremely toxic substances, a little carelessness will cause serious consequences. Therefore, the price of perfluoropolyether oil circulating in the market now is not expensive.

You Bang Shou PFPE lubricant has the same performance as imported brands, superior quality, but with price advantage, now many PFPE lubricant series have been well received by customers.
